March 29, 2012- The Secret Life of Bees “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.” (Bible, Proverbs 13:12) Describe something that you long for. How can acquiring this change your life?
· I long for my family I couldn’t be as smart, intelligent and caring if it wasn’t for them.

“People who think dying is the worst thing don’t know a thing about life.”- Lily Owens
Agree or Disagree and state why.
· Disagree because Some people are afraid of dying and don’t really no what’s in store for you after you die, dying is a part of life it’s not the worst thing, for example there are more things that are worst than dying life suffering from sicknesses etc. Life is special and when it’s all over you should leave this world no that’s there’s a better place then here and you have did your duties while you were on earth.

· I think the jar represents freedom. That’s free to spread her wings.

· Losing something that means a lot to you will have your heart broken.

· Lily thinks that the jar is a clue to finding the address on the back of the black Mary; she thinks the lady that controls the bees might know her mother or has something to do with her mom.

-She is basically saying she has pain inside her heart from all the bad thing that happened to her with her father and other things. When her chest hurts she is imagining her mom is with her.

· Forgiveness/Acceptance is a theme in this novel because a lot of it goes on in the story. June has to accept the fact that August wants Lily to stay with them for awhile.
